Overview
Vorbi ("we", "our", or "the app") is a Romanian language-learning app. We respect your privacy. This policy explains how the app handles your data.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app saves your learning progress, selected language, theme preference, and settings locally on your device using standard on-device storage. This data is not sent to us, and we have no server that could receive it. Deleting the app removes this data.
If you use iCloud backup, Apple may back up this local data as part of your device backup. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
iCloud Sync (Optional, Vorbi Pro)
If you own Vorbi Pro, you can turn on sync so your progress follows you between your own devices. When it is on, a copy of the same learning data — lessons and their results, streak and day history, review schedules, words and phrases in progress, and your settings — is written to your own private iCloud account, using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. It is readable only by Vorbi on devices signed in to that Apple Account.
We never see this data: it does not pass through any server of ours, and no account is created inside the app. Sync is off unless you turn it on, and it is per-device — a device with the switch off keeps everything local. Turning it off stops the syncing; removing the data already in iCloud is done from the device's iCloud settings, the same way as for any other app.
Microphone and Speech Recognition
Where the app offers to listen to you — phrases, dictionary examples, dialogue lines — recognition runs on your device, and the app asks the system to keep it there. The audio is not recorded, not stored and not sent to us. The microphone is only requested the first time you tap to speak, and the feature can simply be left alone.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifiers.
- We do not require account creation.
- We do not track your location.
- We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not build advertising profiles or sell your data.
Usage Statistics and Crash Reports
So that we can tell which parts of the app people actually use and get told when it breaks, Vorbi sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to PostHog, our analytics provider. This covers events such as opening the app, starting or finishing a lesson, viewing the purchase screen, and any crash or error the app hits, together with basic technical details like the app version, device model and operating system.
There is no account and we never send an identifier that could point back to you: no name, email, phone number, contacts, precise location or advertising identifier, and nothing you type or say. Your learning content stays on your device. The data is processed on servers in the European Union and is used only to improve the app. See PostHog's privacy policy.
Purchases
Vorbi offers an optional in-app purchase to unlock additional content. Purchases are processed by Apple and by our purchase-management provider, RevenueCat. To manage your purchase and restore it across your devices, RevenueCat processes a randomly generated anonymous identifier and your purchase/transaction history. This information is not linked to your identity. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Apple processes your purchase in accordance with Apple's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
Vorbi is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest version.
